During the Month of March students were able to honor National Womens History Month through the art of Modern Dance.
All of the students were taught about various Modern Pioneers such as Isadora Duncan, Katherine Dunham, and Martha Graham. Students were able to analyze and have an open discussion on the Costume Design, Musical selection, and Choreography of a famous work called Lamentation (1930) . "Lamentation is a "dance of sorrow." It is not the sorrow of a specific person, time, or place, but the personification of grief itself. " After our class discussion we played around with the idea of personifying various emotions such a ANGER, SADNESS, and EXCITEMENT. Below you see a few Purple Star Professionals utilizing the body socks to create their own Lamentation Variation.
