Gentle reminder that we do not wear our socks and shoes when learning certain genres of dance in the classroom. Our floors are slippery and socks will lead to an injury. We want to dance the pain away, not dance into pain....
TIME TO BREAK IT DOWN!Welcome back friends! I hope you all had a great first 9 days of school and I am excited to get the ball rolling with you all!
Things to know/Tips:
This Saturday (June 8th) the UPCA Dance Team will be performing at The Taste of Charlotte Festival on the community stage! Please come out and show some love to our dancers!
The Talent show was AMAZING! Thank you to all of the students, staff, and parents who helped out during the process. From simply having your music together, costumes prepared, and hanging backstage; I know I could not have done it without you all!
If you have any videos and or photos feel free to send them my way! Calling all singers, actors, dancers, musicians, and performers of all kinds! University Park Creative Arts Elementary is excited to announce the annual UPCA Talent Show! All students are welcome and encouraged to audition for the show. Only 20 Acts will be selected! When preparing for the audition, please keep in mind the guidelines outlined by the rubric (see attached). All acts must be shorter than 2 minutes. Students must have all materials ready at the time of their audition, and music (if needed) must be turned in to Mrs.Hoey-Gordon by May 22nd, a week before auditions May 29th. Music may be e-mailed to Mrs.Hoey-Gordon at [email protected], or turned in on clearly labeled CDs (NO CELL PHONES). Note that singers must use a karaoke/ backing track. It is very important that all acts are school-appropriate: please make sure that all songs have appropriate language and content, and that costumes are suitable for a school event. Any students auditioning with acts deemed inappropriate will not be allowed to perform. If a student is not sure about an act, we encourage them to talk to a parent or teacher for guidance well in advance of the audition. Students may only audition with one act, and cannot perform in more than one act. The show is tentatively scheduled for June 5th-during the school day starting at 2pm. Auditions will be held May 29th during school. Any interested students should turn in the attached form, filled out and signed by a parent, to Mrs. Hoey-Gordon by Monday, May 22nd. Late forms will NOT be accepted and the student will have to wait until next year to audition. Confirmations will be sent out in the following days announcing the date and time of students’ auditions. Before auditioning, please make sure the act is rehearsed. Students must bring all needed materials to their audition, and turn in any needed music ahead of time. Please make sure students are prepared the day of the audition. There will be no re-auditions. We’re looking forward to a great show! Any questions, please contact Mrs.Hoey- Gordon at [email protected].
